If you’ve been watching us on Facebook, then perhaps you are aware that we are giving away a dog seat belt in the month of February. The contest is being held on PetsPage.com and it ends February 28th, so there is still time. You can win any brand of dog seat belt we carry including the Kurgo Tru-Fit or Go-Tech, the Bergan, a Ruff Rider Roadie, or even the ClickIt Utility. But the best part is, there are a lot of other businesses giving away prizes as well. You can win a dog collar, pet clothing, toys, beds, books, treats, and even free dog training lessons!
So please go visit PetsPage.com now and enter to win!
Welcome to Follow Up Friday where we recap the week… in this case, the past two weeks. I did not participate last week because I was still stuffed from Thursday’s meal. 🙂
This week’s follow up is hosted by Jodi with Heart Like a Dog. Be sure to check out her blog to see what Sampson and Delilah have been up to.
You may have already heard about the contest in November for the cute dog figurines. Winners have been announced… Kate V, Jodi E, Lindsay, Jenn B, and Theresa S. Congratulations all! If you haven’t already received your prize, you should be receiving it within a day or two.
Now for the December contest giveaway! On December 2nd, I started a contest for a paw print seat cover. If you haven’t already, go check it out and enter the rafflecopter. There are multiple ways to enter, and I’m sure most of you already meet the criteria by liking my Facebook page and following me on Twitter. You can also add additional entries by tweeting daily. There have only been 38 entries so far, so your chances are good. This contest ends on December 15th. I want to make sure the winner can get their cover in time for Christmas.
Speaking of the paw print pet car covers, Flea with Dog Treat Web for Jones Natural Chews did a great review for me. I heard she got a new Prius and thought she might like one. Check out the review from Flea.
THE RIGHT PET TRAVEL PRODUCT FOR YOU
Posted on the same day as the seat cover contest was an article about selecting the best way for your dog to travel; not based on what everyone else says is the best, but what works for you, your situation, and your dog. The best dog seat belt on the market may not work for your best friend. Some dogs might prefer riding in a crate. But then again, if you have a big dog you might not be able to fit his large pet crate in your small car. There are a ton of different situations and other options besides harnesses and crates. Be sure to go check out this article.
I haven’t posted about this yet, so I thought I would share it here today. We didn’t travel this holiday. Since my dad and stepmom are 11 hours away, my mom and stepdad are 5 hours away, my husband’s parents are in another country, and since my husband couldn’t get Friday off, we stayed home. Neither of us have any family nearby, but we have some good friends. We had a nice afternoon meal, ate some traditional and also nontraditional food, then took a nap. All-in-all, a wonderful day to be thankful for.
I didn’t post about Black Friday on this blog, but I did a little bit on my other blog. On Black Friday, I went to Petco and bought Pierson a bark control collar. I also got him a free pair of reindeer antlers with the purchase. I thought it was a fun trip, but Pierson was not at all pleased:
If you want to know more about how the bark control collar worked for Pierson, be sure to visit my American Dog Blog. The short version of this story is it has been peaceful this week.
Thanks for stopping by. And thank you, Jodi for hosting the blog hop! Happy Holidays everyone. 🙂

Dawn with Maya & Pierson
Our contest winner for the month of April has shared a photo of her Dachshund dog Daffy with her new prize.
Isn’t Daffy absolutely adorable!?! I just love that look on her face. It’s like she’s saying, “You seriously expect me to wear this… in public?” LOL!
The prize was actually a Bergan pet car barrier, but we saw in the comments that Daffy’s mom Amy made and thought perhaps she could use another prize instead. In Amy’s comments, she said her dogs rode in crates and that they bark and whine in the car. Since they are already riding safely in crates and can’t get to the front seats, what use is a pet car barrier? Perhaps the Thundershirt will help keep her dogs calm and quiet when they ride in the car.
Important note: Our winner Amy did not ask us to exchange the prize. It was an offer that we made. In general, the prize in the contest is the one that is given away. It is solely at our discretion to offer an exchange for another product of comparable value. This month’s contest giveaway will likely be a dog car harness. If there is a different prize that you’d like to win, please let us know in comments here. We will be hosting the giveaway soon, so stop by again soon! 🙂
For other great pet photos, visit the blog hop below. Be sure to specifically check out the one of Pierson’s New Agility Kit. That’s my boy and he is showing off his new agility skills.
Does your dog try to climb in the
front seat when you drive?
Does your dog try to get in your lap?
If your dog won’t tolerate a pet seat belt or dog carrier, enter the contest giveaway to win a Bergan pet travel barrier.
Bergan makes a great car barrier that is easy to install. Simply wrap the straps around the headrest and seat body of the car. If you are wary about purchasing a dog car barrier made out of canvas cloth and netting material, enter our contest giveaway in the month of April for a chance to win one!
To enter, you must have a shipping address within the Continental US. We do not ship outside the US. If you meet this criteria, like our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter, tweet about the giveaway, and/or leave a blost post comment. You do not have to do all four entries, but each method gives you another chance to win. You can increase your chances of winning even more by tweeting about the giveaway once a day, every day.
This contest ends April 30th, 2013, 11:59PM EST. We will select a winner on May 1st or 2nd using Random.org. The winner will be notified by email, through Facebook, and/or Twitter. If the winner does not respond within three business days, we will select another winner.
If you’d like to go ahead and order a Bergan pet travel barrier, visit our site at PetAutoSafety.com/bergan-pet-travel-barrier. Please note, that the dog car barrier may not be effective in preventing determined dogs from getting in the front seat. Consider the size of your dog (smaller dogs are less likely to get over the barrier) and his tenacity. For our other pet travel supplies, start at the PetAutoSafety home page. Feel free to enter discount code, petfriend, for 10% off.
Good luck! 🙂

Do you all remember the video of my crazy Labrador Maya in the car? If you missed it, check it out HERE. Basically, my Maya LOVES to ride in the car. She is so excited about it that she whines and cries for the first 15 to 20 minute of every car ride. At first, it is cute. But, as you can imagine, it doesn’t take long to grate on the nerves. I wasn’t sure what to do about it until I came across this pet travel product from Earth Heart called Travel Calm.
Travel Calm is an herbal mist spray that you put on your dog’s outer ears or on their belly. You can also spray it on the fabric of your vehicle or on your dog seat cover or pet car seat. The natural herbal scents are supposed to help soothe your dog and calm him. It can work for excited dogs like my Maya and for nervous dogs.
With an upcoming road trip from Kansas to Texas with my dogs over the Thanksgiving weekend, I thought I would give this mist spray a try. I am super excited to say that the pet Travel Calm worked great! Maya may have whined once for one second, but that was it! You can see my review posted on December 1st, 2012. I was so happy with this product that our company purchased a bunch more for resale.
Pet Travel Calm is now available on PetAutoSafety.com. Plus we are giving away a free bottle at the end of March! Check out the Rafflecopter below and enter to win your free bottle of this great pet travel product. This contest giveaway is available to those with a shipping address in the continental US only. You do not have to enter in every category on the Rafflecopter but each category you enter gives you another chance to win. The contest ends at 11:59pm CST on March 31t, 2013. A winner will be chosen on or around April 1st… Maybe we will do it on April 2nd so that you don’t think our email saying you’re a winner is an April Fools’ joke! 😀
