There have been a few times when our dogs Sephi and Maya stepped on the seat belt and released the dog car harness tether, thereby defeating the purpose of making them safe in the car. I couldn’t duct-tape the seat belt button and I had no other solution – that is, not until I heard about Angel Guard.

Angel Guard is a plastic cover which goes over the seat belt receptacle. The seat belt cannot be unbuckled until the plastic cover of the Angel Guard is removed. This product was designed to keep young children from unbuckling themselves, but who says it can’t be used to keep your dog from unbuckling himself?

The Angel Guard is easy to put on and it is easy for an adult to remove. But it is too strong for a young child to remove and too durable to be chewed by a dog.

If the tether on your dog’s dog car harness uses the seat belt of your car, consider the Angel Guard. Your dog won’t be able to step on the seat belt and accidentally disconnect his tether. Any dog car harness tether which uses the loop-system, like our Tru-Fit Smart dog car harness will benefit from the Angel Guard.

*Please note, the Angel Guard will not work with the standard, Guardian Gear, Cruising Companion, or Ride Right brands of dog car harness. These brands have a tether which buckles directly into the seat belt receptacle, but unfortunately, the tether is too narrow for the Angel Guard to work properly.
